In the initial campus recruitments of Cognizant (This year most of the campuses will have Aspiring Minds Pattern) for the 2017 batch, we observed the test pattern has considerable changes from the previous pattern. The current pattern consists of only 55 questions instead of 70 questions and the maximum time limit is 55 minutes.
The test is of adaptive type where the difficulty level automatically gets modified according to each student’s ability. The written test pattern consists of 3 sections as tabled below:

Majority of verbal ability questions are from the areas of
- Reading Comprehension
- Critical Reasoning
- Sentence Correction
- Synonyms and Antonyms
In this section, 25 Questions to be answered in 25 minutes. Reading comprehension questions are of significant portion. Since more reading is present and one minute per question, prior reading practice will help in clearing this section.
Majority of Quantitative Ability questions are from the areas of
- HCF and LCM
- Pipes and Cisterns
- Profit & Loss
In this section, 16 Questions to be answered in 16 minutes. Since it is an adaptive paper and only a minute for each question, it is recommended to complete the questions as fast as possible. We recommend having good amount of practice beforehand.
Majority of Reasoning Ability questions are from the areas of
- Critical Reasoning
- Data Sufficiency
- Linear Arrangement
- Odd Man Out
- Coding and Decoding
In this section, 14 Questions to be answered in 14 minutes. Here also there is adaptive pattern with a minute for each question. Since understanding reasoning type questions requires considerable time, prior practice will be of immense help.
Comparing with the previous pattern, current pattern is easier but the selection cutoff is higher.
