Likewise, planning and strategy enhances the effectiveness of the execution and hard work

Based on the question pattern

Total time provided for the TCS NQT Exam is 90 Minutes. Before your preparation, you have to know what’s important and how much effort to be put into.

There will be 20 MCQ questions primarily asked from

  • Basics of C & Data Structure
  • Coding functionality
  • Finding the output/error
  • Compiling, Linking and OS based

To test your skills such as

  • Input/Output debugging
  • Basic Programming Concepts
  • Proficiency concepts like Arrays, Pointers, Strings

Coding Section

30 minutes will be (maintain the tense ) provided for Coding and it is the critical section of the examination.

You have to write a program based on the task they ask. It should pass the test cases and meet the expected output.

It can be answered in any of the 5 given programming languages you are proficient at (C, C++, Java, Python, Perl).

Quantitative Aptitude

30 Minutes of time will be provided for Quantitative Aptitude, where you have to answer 15 MCQ questions

According to the TCS question pattern, the following topics have been frequently asked

  • Time& Work
  • Probability
  • Permutation combination
  • Number systems(LCM HCF, Unit digit, Reminder, Divisibility)
  • Mensuration
  • Geometry
  • Time Speed distance
  • Profit & Loss
  • Percentage


Previously English section had only 10 questions. This year they have increased it to 15 questions and providing 10 minutes to answer them.

Candidates should focus more on vocabulary and basic grammar

Questions like Fill in the blanks, Identifying the meaning could be asked to test your vocabulary

Questions like Parts of speech, spot the error will be there to test your grammatical skills

Since there are 5 extra questions, it is an open-ended game.

Power Stone  - Consistent practice

Malcolm Gladwell, in his book Outliers, quotes that “It takes 10,000 hours of practice to become expert at something”

Practicing the question pattern several times will help you master the topics and improve your speed of completing the exam.

You can find TCS question pattern online for practice. But make sure that you are practicing the updated TCS NQT question pattern.

TCS NQT is happening on 3rd and 4th August. There are still a few days left. Allocate a minimum of 2 hours per day and start mastering one section at a time can help you avoid overwhelming and prevent you from exam anxiety.

There is nothing in this world can beat the good old hard work. Have faith in it!

Reality stone - Mastering the repeated questions

TCS NQT is designed in a way that the candidates have to pass certain requirements for the role they are recruited for.

So, Practicing the previous year questions and Repeated question pay you off in the long run.

Especially the programming logic part which is the trickiest part of TCS NQT Only 20 minutes will be provided for this section.

It is estimated that over 5,00,000 students are going to attend TCS NQT on 3rd and 4th August.

Candidates should not lose the motivation by the pulling of procrastination or naysayers.

Preparation is a cycle of goal setting-practice-achievement. In order to keep the motivation, you have to be consistent with practice and achieve the goals.
